We have experienced unusually warm weather for January, with only one light snow.   George and the guys were out keeping the streets clear. Thanks guys. We, the residents all snug in our homes, appreciate your effort.

I hope you all enjoyed the Holliday season. About 25 of us gathered at City Hall on the 17th of December to ride around the City and judge the more highly decorated homes. Jack and Sharon Van Cleave were the winners. There were many worthy contenders. Congratulations Jack and Sharon and “Thanks” to all who put out the effort to decorate and “Thanks” also to those who helped judge.

Our two diesel operated trucks have been giving us a variety of problems. Both trucks have spent considerable time being repaired under warranty. Our warranty is about to run out and we have spent time exploring alternatives. The resale value for each truck was around $25,000. This was determined by talking to people who buy trucks similar to ours and also to ford dealers. Recently we received an offer for one of the trucks for $30,000. After discussion, the council approved the sale. We will be in the market for a new truck, hopefully for a little less than $40,000, fully configured with hydraulics and attachments for plowing snow. The council will be asked to approve the purchase. This will solve at least part of the problem.

For you birders, keep an eye on the lake. We have been seeing a good variety of waterfowl including a few wood ducks. There are many ways you can enjoy living  at Weatherby Lake, even in the winter.

It will not be long and the Council will be filling the expired terms of Committee members. If you have interest in joining a committee please let your Council representative or me know. We always need volunteers.

Start thinking about the wild game dinner on the 26th of February. The Fishing Club puts this even on annually and it is fun to attend both to eat some great food and to see your friends and neighbors as we start to think about spring.

Remember, it is great to live at Weatherby Lake.
